| Is it possible to build a multi-level home? It is possible to construct a simple home or a very elaborate custom home. The homes can be one story or multilevel to meet the needs of the home buyer. All of our floor plans are stamped by a structural engineer. How much does a Tierra Concrete Home cost? The expense to construct a custom built concrete home are similar to that of a “stick-built” home. However, we invest more for insulation and high performance features and that cost is offset by the reduction in HVAC equipment size. What about the concrete sweating? The surface of a concrete wall only collects condensation when the air temperature is significantly different from the temperature of the wall relative to the dew point. Because we insulate our concrete walls on the outside protecting them from temperature changes, a Tierra Concrete Homeowner will not have to be concerned about sweating walls. What about the future of the home? Because the concrete home is disaster resistant, the home will have an indeterminable lifespan. In some cases owners want to consider remodeling of their concrete home rather than invest in another home. It is actually less work to remodel a concrete home: with the use of a concrete saw to partition the walls, there is very little mess as with a framed, sheet-rocked, and textured wall. What about active solar equipment? Electricity from the sun, (photovoltaics), and solar thermal hot water are always encouraged. As fossil fuel prices continue to rise they will become more and more cost effective. Renewable energy rebates and federal and state tax credits are now available. Solar equipment can also be financed within the energy efficient mortgage which shows a higher appraisal value because of the energy efficiency. |
